There are times when one needs to disconnect from the everyday things that drive our every movement, the tasks and the chores of life, jobs to be done, commitments made, the often manic pace of life… and just take a deep breath — literally and metaphorically – and just look.
So here is an excuse to take that deep breath, that pause, that moment of reflection, that few moments of space …
The Sun
Have you ever seen
anything
in your life
more wonderfulthan the way the sun,
every evening,
relaxed and easy,
floats toward the horizonand into the clouds or the hills,
or the rumpled sea,
and is gone–
and how it slides againout of the blackness,
every morning,
on the other side of the world,
like a red flowerstreaming upward on its heavenly oils,
say, on a morning in early summer,
at its perfect imperial distance–
and have you ever felt for anything
such wild love–
do you think there is anywhere, in any language,
a word billowing enough
for the pleasurethat fills you,
as the sun
reaches out,
as it warms youas you stand there,
empty-handed–
or have you too
turned from this world–or have you too
gone crazy
for power,
for things?~ Mary Oliver
Hello, are you still in there?
Thank you, yet again, Mary Oliver.
